Outline, V-cut and depanel

The board is cut from the panel. Mouse-bites and V-score are mechanical design, not leftovers.

01 What happens

  • CNC routing follows the outline. V-cut scores a straight line for breakaway. Tabs/mouse-bites hold the board in the panel for SMT.
  • Tool diameter and tab location must miss copper, antenna and connectors.
  • After SMT the assembler depannels; burrs and flex can crack ceramics and crystals.

02 On an ESP32 board

  • ESP32 modules near an edge need keep-out from the router bit and from V-cut stress.
  • USB connectors hanging off the outline need the panel to support them during reflow.
  • A 0.8 mm board with aggressive V-cut snaps in the wrong place.

03 What usually fails

  • Router into copper or antenna.
  • Tabs too weak (boards fall in SMT) or too strong (crack on depanel).
  • Dimension vs enclosure off by the mill radius nobody drew.

04 What we check

  • We place tabs away from crystals, USB and the RF end of an ESP32 module.
  • Outline, V-cut and NPTH slots must match the enclosure drawing, not only the 3D step file.

外形、V 割与分板

从拼板上把板切下来。邮票孔和 V 割是结构设计,不是边角料。

01 这一步做什么

  • 数控铣外形。V 割直线折断。邮票孔/连接位让板在 SMT 时还连在拼板上。
  • 铣刀直径和连接位要避开铜、天线和连接器。
  • 贴完再分板;毛刺和弯曲会弄裂电容和晶振。

02 落到 ESP32 板上

  • ESP32 模组靠板边时,要留铣刀和 V 割应力的距离。
  • USB 探出板外时,回流过程拼板要托住它。
  • 0.8 mm 板 V 割太狠会从错误的地方断。

03 常见失败

  • 铣到铜或天线。
  • 连接位太弱(SMT 掉板)或太强(分板裂纹)。
  • 外形和外壳差一个铣刀半径,谁都没画。

04 我们查什么

  • 连接位远离晶振、USB 和模组射频那一头。
  • 外形、V 割、NPTH 槽要对外壳图,不能只对 3D。
